October Open Mic -10/29/23

Join the local poetry community for the annual “Come in Costume” open mic. Books by local authors awarded for best costumes in three categories.

Share your polished poems or bust out fresh ink from your notebook during St. Augustine’s longest-running open mic poetry event. Invite a friend or two or three. Ancient City Poets has always been open to the public and there is no charge at the door to get your name on the list. Books by local authors will be given away as prizes in three categories: best literary costume, most creative, and best teen costume.

If you would like to share a poem, please see the facilitator at 2:30 PM to get your name on the list on the day of the event. There is space on the list for 15 poets at 5 minutes each. At 3 PM, the readers will be called to the podium, by facilitator Becky Magnolia, in the order their names appear on the sign-up sheet.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE ANCIENT CITY POETS
Ancient City Poets has recently been awarded the distinction of being the local chapter of the Florida State Poets Association (FSPA). The monthly readings are open to all and qualify as the monthly chapter meeting. As a community of poets and poetry lovers, ACP has been gathering on the last Sunday of the month in Saint Augustine, Florida since August 2009.

This event is FREE and open to the public. It is made possible by the City of St. Augustine, St. Johns Cultural Council, and St. Augustine PoetFest.

Parking Info: Access the building through the Main Branch Library parking lot, then follow the brick path for additional parking in the back.
