Join Featured Florida Poet Mary-Ann Westbrook from Volusia County, followed by a community open mic. The series is held at the Waterworks, located at 184 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida 32084

We will spotlight Volusia County in August with Mary-Ann Westbrook who will share at 3 PM, followed by a brief book signing and meet and greet opportunity, and then a community open mic featuring the first ten who sign up.

MARY-ANN WESTBROOK
Mary-Ann started writing poetry 25 years ago when she and her husband were full time RV travelers. Upon settling in Ormond-By The-Sea she joined Tomoka Poets Society of Florida State Poets Association. She is currently serving as their president. She is also a past secretary and past president of Florida State Poets Association. She currently serves as Vice President of Creative Happiness Institute that nurtures all of the arts in the Daytona Beach area. Mary-Ann also serves as a lead usher at the Peabody Auditorium and the Daytona Beach Bandshell Summer Series Concerts. For fun, she is a walker/hiker and a kayaker. She finds joy in the morning sunrise on the beach and the evening sunset over the Halifax River.

If you would like to share a poem, please see the facilitator at 2:30 PM to get your name on the list on the day of the event. There is space on the list for ten poets at five minutes each. At 3:30 PM, the readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the sign-up sheet.

Share your polished poems or bust out fresh ink from your notebook during St. Augustine’s longest-running open mic poetry event. Invite a friend or two or three. Ancient City Poets has always been open to the public and there is no charge at the door to get your name on the list.

This gathering will be the fourth in an eight-part series of monthly events celebrating creative writing and reciting presented by Ancient City Poets, the St. Augustine PoetFest, and the St. Johns Cultural Council. This series is coordinated by Chris Bodor, in recognition of his role as the Beat Poet Laureate for the State of Florida. HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE ANCIENT CITY POETS
Ancient City Poets is the local chapter of the Florida State Poets Association (FSPA). These gatherings qualify as the monthly chapter meeting. The monthly readings are open to all. You do not have to be a member to share at the podium. Ancient City Poets is a community of poets and poetry lovers who have gathered in the Nation’s Oldest City, on the last Sunday of the month, since August 2009.
