Poetry Flows from the Waterworks

In November, Brevard County will be in the spotlight. The featured poet, Rosa Sophia, will share at 3 PM, followed by a brief book signing opportunity, and then a community open mic featuring the first ten who sign up.

If you would like to share a poem, please see the facilitator at 2:30 PM to get your name on the list on the day of the event. There is space on the list for ten poets at five minutes each. At 3:30 PM, the readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the sign-up sheet.

BIO
Rosa Sophia Godshall’s work has been published in Philadelphia Stories Magazine, Sentience Literary Journal, SoFloPoJo, Islandia Journal, Thimble Literary Magazine, Limp Wrist, and others. Her chapbook, Many Miles, is forthcoming in March 2025 from Harbor Editions, and she is also the author of Village of North Palm Beach: A History (The History Press, 2020). She was the recipient of the 2023 Christopher F. Kelly Award for Poetry, sponsored by the Academy of American Poets, through Florida International University. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and a degree in automotive technology. She is also the managing editor of Mobile Electronics magazine, a publication for the aftermarket car audio industry. Rosa lives in Palm Bay, Florida, where she enjoys working on her 1960 Jeep CJ5, repairing typewriters and writing typewriter poetry on demand. Visit her website to learn more: www.torquesgarage.com

Share your polished poems or bust out fresh ink from your notebook during St. Augustine’s longest-running open mic poetry event. Invite a friend or two or three. Ancient City Poets has always been open to the public and there is no charge at the door to get your name on the list.

This gathering will be conclude this year’s eight-part series of monthly spotlight events presented by Ancient City Poets, the St. Augustine PoetFest, and the St. Johns Cultural Council. This series is coordinated by Chris Bodor, in recognition of his role as the Beat Poet Laureate for the State of Florida. Ancient City Poets is the local chapter of the Florida State Poets Association (FSPA). These gatherings qualify as the monthly chapter meeting. The monthly readings are open to all. You do not have to be a member to share at the podium. Ancient City Poets is a community of poets and poetry lovers who have gathered in the Nation’s Oldest City, on the last Sunday of the month, since August 2009.
