August 24, 2025 – Open Mic

Poets and poetry lovers are invited to celebrate sixteen years, with the local poetry community.

The St. Johns Cultural Council and St. Augustine PoetFest present a monthly poetry open mic with Ancient City Poets.

AUGUST ANNIVERSARY WILL BE ONE WEEK EARLY – AUGUST 24TH

The last Sunday of August happens during Labor Day weekend this year, so let’s hold our 16th Anniversary reading on August 24th!

Let’s reminisce and reflect and set our sights on the future.

The sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 PM on the event day. At 3 PM, the facilitator will call to the podium the first 15 names on the sheet. Each presentation should be limited to five minutes maximum, to allow everyone time to share. The mic will be turned off a 4:30 PM to allow everyone time to network and socialize.

The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to follow the theme or not. Give us two or three of your polished poems or share fresh ink from your notebook. Invite a friend or two or three to cheer you on.

A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 PM. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.

Let your poetic words flow through the Waterworks and through the streets of St. Augustine.

Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. Please limit your time at the podium to five minutes.
