SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 28.
Waterworks
184 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida 32084
Poets and poetry lovers are invited to celebrate creative writing and reciting, with the local poetry community.
All are encouraged to share poems that relate to positive change in our community and the world that we live in as we observe 100 Thousand Poets for Change Day.
The sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 PM on the event day. At 3 PM, the facilitator will call to the podium the first 15 names on the sheet. Each presentation should be limited to five minutes maximum, to allow everyone time to share. The mic will be turned off a 4:30 PM to allow everyone time to network and socialize.
You can be an agent of change with your written words. This is the idea behind 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a grassroots organization co-created by the late poet Michael Rothenberg that brings communities together to call for environmental, social, and political change within the framework of peace and sustainability.
FLORIDA STATE POETS ASSSOCIATION (FSPA)
Help spread the word about the Ancient City Poets. We are the local St. Johns County chapter of the Florida State Poets Association (FSPA). These gatherings qualify as the monthly chapter meeting. The monthly readings are open to all. You do not have to be a member to share at the podium. Ancient City Poets is a community of poets and poetry lovers who have gathered in the Nation’s Oldest City, on the last Sunday of the month, since August 2009. Filling out the membership form and paying the small annual fee is a great way to support the F.S.P.A and tap into a huge network of poets in Florida, and beyond!
