Let’s gather in the Gallery to celebrate spoken word and poetic voices.
This last Sunday in May event will be held at the Maria Reyes-Jones Studio at 134 Riberia Street in historic Downtown St. Augustine, Florida 32084.
Poets and poetry fans will gather on Sunday May 31 from 3-4:30 PM at the Gallery. Poets of all skill levels are given an opportunity to share their poems with a loving and supportive audience.
Readers are invited to present poems that celebrate mothers and others. Think: Mothers of Invention, Mother Earth. In fact, it is safe so say that this will be the Mother of all Poetry readings. The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to follow the theme or not. Give them two or three of your polished poems or share fresh ink from your notebook. Invite a friend or two or three to cheer you on.
A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 PM. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The reading will end at 4:30 allowing the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.
HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE ANCIENT CITY POETS
Ancient City Poets is the local chapter of the Florida State Poets Association (FSPA). These gatherings qualify as the monthly chapter meeting. The monthly readings are open to all. You do not have to be a member to share at the podium. Ancient City Poets is a community of poets and poetry lovers who have gathered in the Nation’s Oldest City, on the last Sunday of the month, since August 2009.
